I'll Dug It 06:28
It all started mid September With trees pulled back fiercely blown, The kid's first day in the city For which such wind is know, The tallest mountains in Chicago Made by boxes that he stacked, Thick roots grew 'round the fencing Outside his uptown flat, Just hours after landing, Not yet to start unpack, He set out to a music house He passed on Broadway Ave And the band played: "My lip up, skip it on by, I'll dug it," And the band played: "I'll skip in on by, the by, the by, the by, the by, the by..." The band played. Oh how she stood there glowing Under the neon lights, A gold relief crept 'round her shoulder, A second drink well in her sights, With her ears on the music and her eyes on the crowd Her mouth spoke soft, But her clothes she wore loud And the band played: "My lip up, skip it on by, I'll dug it," And the band played: "I'll skip in on by, the by, the by, the by, the by, the by, the by, the by, the by..." The band played. The night before her friends had left, Just two days before she, They all had jobs in another town, A year there they would be, After a week back west, Her last night to have, She spent it at a music house She passed on Broadway Ave And they danced and they danced, The walls shook and the floor drank, The crowd collapsed like the music in their heads, Her back seat became an eager bed, The next day they both left, A year till she'd be back, He was left unpacking, His mind on last nights track, And the band played, And the band played, And the band played, And the band played.

Grim Sport 02:25
And the rain fell down the car, Silly rain, down the car, It wept on, charming what a storm, Hands shake, humming engine warm, Shaky hands, branch torn, Heavy foot choked the pedal to the floor, Poor pedal choked down to the floor, The window cracked open the rain too sprayed free, Whispering at your heals, "the lake sets you free," Ignorant of the scene cars parted and let be, Foolish cars, if only they could see, Her car skidded across the court to the dock and, Next day's paper read short: "Dock Aids in Grim Sport." Kind dock, grim sport

Not Me 02:25
Let all your worries melt away, You might have worries but not today, You'll find a way, You'll find another way out of the churning pool, So delightfully cool, Your hearing is to fool you, see it sneering, Who'll be there when you're sad, A cooling presence when mad, Not me

Take me to the silver hour, Where moonlight pours her gilding shower, Falling high through glowing towers, If I could love it would be (there) There you'd see, My words make sense to her but here they'd be Just pawns to find the silver hour's key Five o'clock after music lost it's stock Bathe in silence feel her heartbeat knock At the windowpane where moonbeams flock See her face reflect with harbor docks Like rows of teeth for grinning fools The city's pools that lightly mock Naive young love while kissing caught If a dream, the dreamer I am not Take me to the silver hour, Where moonlight pours her gilding shower, Falling hight through glowing towers, If I could love it would be there There you'd see, My words make sense to her but here they'd be Just pawns to find the silver hour's key, If I could love it would be there Take me to the silver hour, If you ask she knows how long the dream will last Before she sends you back Should I stay if she sends me back?
